We care about our communities.
The leaders and professionals of FirstSouthwest care deeply about the communities in which we do business and beyond.

In fact, more than 100 of our professionals volunteer more than 5,000 hours each year to support diverse nonprofits all across the country. Our community involvement reaches all areas of our society from supporting inner city schools, food to the elderly programs, musical organizations, to supporting medicial and non profit organizations FirstSouthwest is involved. Our employees personally dedicate themselves and their time by serving on boards, as trustees and by participating in those every day volunteer activities that can make a real difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

We care about the environment.
We recognize that our work may have a direct or indirect effect on the local, regional and global environment. That’s why our firm is committed to reducing harmful effects on the environment and promoting the understanding of sustainability in its broadest context.

We consistently support efforts to conserve energy and to reduce polluting emissions by subsidizing mass transit passes for our employees.  In fact, the North Texas Clean Air Coalition recognized FirstSouthwest for contributing to cleaner air in North Texas through the “Best Workplaces for Commuters and Clear Air Awards” for 2007.  The Firm also received the “Employer of the Year Gold Award” for 2007 and 2008 from Dallas Area Rapid Transit (“DART”), based in part on the percentage of employees utilizing the DART rail and bus transit system.

We are also continually evolving toward a paperless environment for both our internal operations and in our client Clearing services. For instance, one of our operational "green initiatives" is to reduce our server room energy requirements. By focus on power consumption, we were able to reduce energy consumption in this area by approximately 25%. For Clearing clients, we try to reduce the use of paper by promoting that they can access statements, confirmations and daily reports online.

FirstSouthwest’s corporate parent, PlainsCapital Corporation, is headquartered in One Victory Park in Dallas, a building certified by the U.S. Green Building Council and featuring efficient use of resources and the environment, a health-conscious state-of-the-art indoor air system, access to natural daylight and use of recycled products. PlainsCapital Bank, a subsidiary of PlainsCapital Corporation, also works hard to promote its online banking services as a way to encourage paperless banking. Additionally, the bank has introduced an innovative new product called “eGreen Checking”, a checking account that features free, environmentally-friendly features and benefits.
